Fred Degoulet

"Finally! Now I have some free time, I've just finished my mountain guide season."

Biography

Mountaineer, high mountain guide based in the Ecrins, Fred loves everything of the mountains, from the remote slopes of the Meije to the Himalayan eternities. From Lyon, a past in the high school section of Die Mountain in Drôme, then from the FFME (French Mountain and Climbing Federation), Fred turned to vertical exploration, from perfectly carved limestone to the sacred mountains of the Himalayas. Guide since 2009, motivated by travels and expeditions, his path will take him to high altitude. In 2017, with his climbing partners Benjamin Guigonnet and Hélias Millerioux, he opened a very technical 2,200m route on the south face of Nuptse Nup II (7,742m) which won the golden ice axe, the highest recognition in modern mountaineering. When it comes to skiing, when he puts down his axes, you can find him in the Grave area, where he works with most of his clients. Those wild mountains, with their legendary avalanche chutes, the magical slopes in the Meije's Vallons, with its peaceful and rugged village. That's how Fred loves to share skiing.
